World’s Oldest Optical Illusion Found? – NatGeo News Watch.  Allegations that this illustrates stone-age philosophy notwithstanding, the ambiguity of this figure for me indicates that ealier people early recognised familiar similarities and familar variabilities among animals and realised that these familiar similarities and variabilities were meaningful to them in all sorts of material ways, as this figurine succinctly shows.
